A biography of Sarah B. Cochran, a philanthropist, college trustee, and coal industry executive in the early 1900s.
Because this book is about a woman in an industry that women were not common in, I wanted to make sure she stood out. The white female silhouette pops nicely against the black of the coal that she worked with and is reminiscent of how forgotten she's been to time. I used the motif of this head throughout the interior of the book and also on the jacket.
For this title I designed the full cover and interior.
