Issues in Interdisciplinary Studies, founded in 1982, is an international peer-reviewed publication of the Association of Interdisciplinary Studies, dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of the many varieties of interdisciplinarity in the academy and in society at large. Edited by Sven Arvidson and Gretchen E. Shulz. 

In creating the cover for this journal there were a lot of iterations along the way. Ironically, the final cover design ended up being the one that I created first. Many different designs were tried with a variety of angles approaching the idea of interdiscplinarity, including globes to represent the internationality of the journal, connections in general, the idea of thinking outside of the box, or simple type based solutions. Several of these designs are shown below.
