about
Hi! I'm Hannah Gaskamp. Since June 2019 I've been the Senior Designer at Texas Tech University Press. I've also been freelancing part time since spring 2020. I graduated with honors from Texas State University with a BFA in Communication Design in spring 2019.

I love book design because I love details, and details are what make books shine. I also love devising ways to represent an entire story or topic with just one image on the cover. Most of my work has been non-fiction and while I'm open to branching out, I love that a non-fiction title often says it all, and any cleverness or ironic message I want to send with a cover will come across right away.
I appreciate working at a small university press because I get to have a say in all parts of the book and can make sure that the experience of that book is cohesive and the best it can be. I also have had the opportunity to gain a wide variety of experience in things like file preparation and working with printers.

On a personal level I enjoy reading non-fiction books (mostly about science, nature, and history), puzzles, and hanging out with my pet rats.
