Drawing on the resiliency of the natural world in the face of changing climate, birds, wolves, and fire populate Birds at Night as it explores themes of loss, trauma, PTSD, indigeneity, and familial relationships.

The author specifically requested birds, a wolf or coyote, a blue background, and a linocut style. With such a specific request it was merely a matter of putting things together. I was surprised I was able to find stock imagery in a linocut style. The author was very pleased, commenting that the necessary award symbol resembled a full moon.
